This is a unique automotive accessory. I played it a couple of years ago. It started, played and ejected, It did everything it was supposed to do. The sound at that time needed to be synced, however, because even though it played the record, the sound was not right. The condition of the player is overall good except the top has some rust spots. Internally it is very clean and complete. As I said its been years since I tried it, so who knows what its like now. I will include a first page of a manual which is all I have. I have also included a preamp I bought because the player was supposed to run sound thru the radio. My radio was not working so I thought i’d just run it thru the preamp.

Fine looking Allstate which of course was manufactured by ARC as a private’s label for Sears. Other than the control panel faceplate, it is identical to the RCA AP-1. The chrome, on a scale of 10 being like brand new, I would judge it at about 7. It has minor pitting on the body but not on the faceplate. I did the usual refurbish by taking every assembly apart, restoring it or replacing it and realigning to factory specs. It has a brand new motor that has been calibrated to 45rpm and a new idler drive wheel. I removed the special plug that was used for radios setup to receive the output of the player and installed a single RCA female so you can out put directly to a Aux input on the radio, or an input to an amplifier or even a bluetooth transmitter. I will also throw in a service manual so if you have a problem years down the road, you can have a local service shop take a shot at service. Will accept trade in and don’t care what condition it’s in. All I need is a good set of Pix and conversion as to what’s missing or not missing. It very inexpensive but does a great job. The original units which were the RCA AP-1 were factory installed in 50’s and 60’s high end automobiles. Now, they are hot items for restored and Custom Show Cars. Naturally, the audio system is upscaled to Stereo. Soooo, why put an expensive item under your dash if it doesn’t produce the quality of audio the system is capable of? Being a Car Nut myself, I decided to modify an old AP-1. It sounded fantastic, especially with Stereo 45rpm records. I received an offer I couldn’t refuse at my first Spring Auto Show. I have been restoring and. All parts stripped, anodized, and reinstalled to factory specs. All rubber parts and mounts and buffers have all been replaced with new. The suspension springs which keep the play deck steady over bumps have been replaced too. The cartridge has been replaced with a P-150 Stereo cartridge and the tone arm adjusted to apply only 5-8mg pressure to the needle. This allows the cartridge, thru it’s pre-amplifier, to produce true high quality audio unlike the old power point cartridge which was also used in Fischer Price toy record players.
