The record player is cosmetically in very good condition. It is very mid-century, could use some touch-up on the stain, but there are no deep scratches or chips in the wood. The gold speaker cover is in perfect condition. The inside is very clean, and the record player has all new old stock tubes and a new needle. I started restoring it, but never finished. I have 28 tube radios to restore and 5 other record players, so I’m letting go of this project. It needs volume repair, it has an extremely loud hum anytime it’s turned on, there is no volume from the record, and the tone arm stops halfway into the record. It will probably need rebuilt or would make a great decoration piece or prop. The auto-changing mechanism is fully functional and it would work find if those issues were fixed, but it likely needs rebuilt and lubricated. It is a rare record player. As with most 50+ year old items, the grease gets thick, the oil dries up, and other vital components needing to be serviced / replaced. This RCA Automatic record changer has just been fully serviced / restored as follows. Idler Wheel: Replaced with idler with new/fresh rubber surface. Mechanism Cam wheel rubber replaced with new. Spindle bearings cleaned and lubricated. Automatic mechanism cleaned and lubricated. Power cord has been replaced with a new polarized cord and plug. Power switch, volume, bass and treble controls have been cleaned and lubricated with Deoxit. Case has been cleaned and polished inside and out. Case has minor scuffs scratches and former use marks. The top and sides of the case have been re-painted. Amplifier has been fully serviced with new electrolytic capacitors. All wax tubular capacitors have been replaced with ceramic capacitors.
