Picked this up at a local estate sale with the hopes that it would at least power on. To my surprise, not only did it power on but the turntable works and so does the radio. Everything works on it plus the cabinet is in beautiful condition other than a few scuffs and scratches. The print on/near the knobs are too faded to capture photos of. The tuner knob is obvious and legible but there are the other 3 knobs. One powers it on/volume. One switches from radio to record player and the third knob controls treble/bass. It measures 25″ tall x 20″ x 18.5. Unsure of it’s weight. I played Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1 on it and it sounded beautiful. The volume button is stiff and the play button on the record player is touchy. As with all older wooden pieces like this there will be imperfections such as scratches, dings and chips in the wood and veneer. Needs to be serviced – Treble knob is seized, and platter spins very slowly. Tested with a preamp and volume was fine, but may not need a preamp. Feels like it needs belts replaced. Dings throughout, have buffed out large scratches in dome with Novus products. Aluminum has not been polished or buffed. Includes audio jacks, hardwired power cable, and the Service Info sheet. Absolutely stunning MidCentury Modern atomic style Kuba Komet TV / radio / stereo / record player combo in solid wood cabinet. This is an extremely rare find!!! And even rarer, it’s a US located find!! Has been owned, and pristinely cared for by it’s first owner until now!! Beautiful blonde and brunette wood duo-tone cabinet with built-in television, and hidden radio and record player. This is the pinnacle of retro kitsch wonderment with an entire mood that screams “The Jetsons”. Original booklet and knob hang tag!! There is crazing in the varnish. We have priced this fantastic piece keeping in mind that there will be refinishing costs to remedy the crazing. TV upper cabinet portion has a hinged lid which easily lifts to reveal all speakers, and interior electronic workings. ALL PARTS ARE ORIGINAL. Knobs and control buttons are located along the side and top of the TV unit. Hard to show in photos, but the entire upper portion SWIVELS!!!! This is a true diamond in the rough!!! Very rare vintage 1963 Zenith model KPS80L portable tube stereo record player with micro touch turntable. This model is highly sought after for its wild space age styling with asymmetrical center channel speaker. It is definetly the coolest stereo portable ever made. It is in very nice physical condition, which is rare given its heavy wood case. It even has its original detachable extension left and right channel speakers. The only thing it is missing is the little stylus knob that pushed on the stylus rotates the needle from lp to 78. I have plugged it in and the turntable spins and tube amplifier works without hum. There is sound when the stylus is touched. This is a perfect candidate for restoration.
