In very pristine condition. Tested and works like a brand new one. Looks mostly like new with a few minor blemishes on the cover. I can’t find one online for sale for a better price or in even close to as good of condition.

The player is absolutely beautiful. I replaced the main light that illuminates the main board and I have also replaced the needle. All of the options appear to work fine but I do not have the right speakers to test the phono speaker jacks. I tested them and sound comes out each jack. The phono arm also needs to be adjusted as it is not balanced correctly. I don’t know if this phono has ever been serviced. This was owned by a teacher who used it in her classroom and she has owned it all these years. She has kept it in the case the whole time. The styling is insanely cool. I would say it’s a bonus this unit performs because it would be worth purchasing purely on its merits as an art piece (especially the lighting effects). Pictures don’t do this turntable justice. Specifications: Plays Stereo or Mono Records or Plays 16, 33, 45, and 78. This record player looks beautiful. It does have a couple of issues. I don’t work on these machines so I can’t say how difficult the issues are to correct. When playing the record it seams to play a little slow at first in the 33 1/3 setting, but after it warms up it seems to be okay, and rejects fine.

I bought this a couple months ago and I dont know much about vintage turntables. Ive only used newer higher end ones. I can see what people mean by that warm vintage sound!!! This thing is beautiful and works wonderfully! It is hard to believe its from the 70s! The only thing I noticed was the 45rpm center plastic ring for the platter is missing but you can find these anywhere for cheap. Vintage PL-55X Pioneer turntable. I cannot note any defects on the hinged dust cover or the cabinet or anywhere else. It’s complete with all the original parts except manual. The tone arm balance is perfect. It seems like this was not used much. There is an elastic dust cover to keep the dust off the cover. It was packed up in the original Pioneer boxes from Labelles here in Billings, MT. It’s all way too nice to put in my mechanic shop. This turntable is much heavier than any I have ever played. This is a Kenwood KP-990 Direct Drive turntable. Super high quality from the golden age of the record player. This table is 2nd in the line, behind the KP-9010, which I’ve been told has better feet and a heavier plinth. It also appears the maybe they have a slightly different tonearm. Other than that they have the same basic construction including the “CLFS” system which stands for “Closed Loop Frame Structure” which is supposed to isolate the motor, arm, enclosure, bottom plate, and dust cover. I know it sounds like a gimmick, but this turntable sounds fantastic. It has an oversized platter, and it weighs about 30 lbs. The condition is fantastic, it does have some light scratches (it is about 40 years old), however it is obvious that it has been well taken care of. The cover is clear with no major scratches, just some light swirl marks. There is a chip on the right corner of the plinth that can be seen in the pictures. It also has the original box and transport screws. Please note that the cartridge shown in the pictures is NOT included, however the head shell is included. This is a product designed for the Japanese market, so it wants to see 100 volts, NOT 120! If you need more information, try to google any of the model numbers I have mentioned (KP-1100, KP-9010, or KP-990), and you will find all sorts of info, including some interesting modification that can be made.
