This method compares the output pulses of a generator attached to the motor’s rotation axis with the pulses of a quartz oscillator to detect phase differences and maintain the motor’s rotation speed. In addition, in order to increase the reliability of the circuit itself, the circuit is IC-based, with a bipolar IC used for the drive circuit and a MOS type IC for the control circuit. The XL-1550’s drive circuit operates in the forward and reverse directions, allowing the motor to rotate faster and electrically brake in the reverse direction for quicker response. The strobe is equipped with a waveform shaping circuit. In this circuit, the strobe is lit by dividing the oscillation frequency of the crystal oscillator (3 MHz band) by the power circuit. As a result, the strobe is not affected by the power supply frequency. Also, when switching the rotation speed, the frequency dividing ratio can be changed to allow adjustment with a single stripe. The strobe irradiation current is pulsed by a waveform shaping circuit, allowing the strobe engraved on the outer circumference of the turntable to be read clearly. The servo circuit has a built-in CR oscillator, and PLL (phase control) works even when the quartz is turned off, providing excellent load resistance and drift characteristics even during fine tuning. Not tested for sound as the arm doesn’t move when the switches are hit and I didn’t want to force it. It does spin, I can’t say the speed is correct.
