This is amazing mid century German Grundig Majestic console. The radio works and the record player plays. This thing does have a few quarks as all vintage pieces sometimes do. The volume button is stiff and the play button on the record player is touchy. As with all older wooden pieces like this there will be imperfections such as scratches, dings and chips in the wood and veneer. Thorens TD-150 MK II Turntable Record Player German. I’ve done all that I can with testing it, and if you have any recommendations on speakers I can use or what to hook it up to. Please let me know. The piece is as shown. There is no dust cover. When you plug in the electrical plug, the machine turns just fine. Adjusting from 33 to 45 works just fine. I noticed when I have the larger metal plate on it there’s a light scraping sound. So there will have to be adjustments made with the turntable top and making it even out and weighted out. Brad engraved his name as you can see in the lower part. I can’t test how it hooks up cuz I don’t have any speakers. I just brought this out of storage after all these years. The rest of the device looks pretty good with minimal wear here and there. It has not been opened up or looked at for a few decades. Again condition is as shown. If you have any recommendations of how to test it with speakers let me know. I just literally don’t have speakers. HERE WE HAVE: A vintage Braun turntable! This unit is not marked with a model number, but I believe it’s the PS600 designed by Dieter Rams. Casing is wood with a plastic lid. We tested it and it played a record, but it needs a lot of basic servicing. In need of a new needle and new cartridge but could need some other tune-ups as well. There are scuffs and scratches to the exterior from age, mostly on the plastic cover. The metal parts have spots of corrosion. The turntable features 4 speeds (16, 33, 45, 78), a perfectly styled tonearm with the original stylus (still working beautifully), with a 5-pin din socket for amplifier output. Plinth-mounted PC 4 module. Rams’ revision of Wagenfeld’s PC 3 module consisted in two three alterations: 1 – replacement of the organic tonearm form with one based on orthogonals, 2 – replacement of the chromed platter puck with a retractable flush-fitting disk, 3 – replacement of five rubber stabilising nubs with a continuous band of rubber. This formal emphasis on the circle and square, in place of Wagenfeld’s more complex and naturalistic references, gave the design a distinctly technical aspect. This shift was consistent with a reduction in the use of wood throughout the audio programme in the design of housings, and their replacement with lacquered or painted metal. As mentioned, the turntable is in perfect working condition, with no damage to the casing, and no wear to any of the transfers or rubber feet.
