Beautiful unit still cosmetically very clean. The model is SO342, build in West Germany in 1962. I have the electronic schematics and as I wanted to swap out some capacitors and resistors which need replacing to get the sound quality back but I couldn’t figure it out. The record player works well but as noted the sound is the speakers are muffled. One leg could use a little reinforcement. The grill cloth of the unit also has some pulls for a bad cat. This is a project for a more competent electrician than myself or perhaps pull the whole unit apart and use it for it’s beautiful structure. I think it qualified as mid century modern. Maybe it’ll be a woodworking project.

Cosmetically its in good overall used condition especially for it’s age. Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to tune in. It was making a noise like it wanted to tune but it just kept crackling. The tubes are lighting up but not working. The record player isn’t even turning on. This is amazing mid century German Grundig Majestic console. The radio works and the record player plays. This thing does have a few quarks as all vintage pieces sometimes do. The volume button is stiff and the play button on the record player is touchy. As with all older wooden pieces like this there will be imperfections such as scratches, dings and chips in the wood and veneer. Vintage Grundig stereo console in beautiful condition. This HiFi is a model SO225, made in 1961/62. The record player still works perfectly. With the push of a button, the record drops down and spins, the arm automatically moves onto the record, and the sound is warm and vibrant. Has bass, treble, and mono/stereo controls. The record cabinet is illuminated with a working light bulb and has a shelf for storing 45s or vinyl cleaning supplies etc. The backlit radio fires up and gets reception but the tuning knob doesnt scan, so its stuck on one station. Has short and long wave radio as well, but I havent been able to get reception on those bands. Its retrofitted with Bluetooth and I was able to play Apple Music/Spotify on it until very recently, but the Bluetooth receiver is not currently working. Probably an easy fix there are YouTube videos on how to do this. Ill throw in the Bluetooth receiver in case you can figure it out. Overall, this midcentury modern MCM stunner has no glaring aesthetic flaws (a couple of light hairline scratches and a small wood chip at bottom only visible upon close inspection) and still plays records like a champ. If you want her functioning at 100% again, I can recommend a cheap old-school stereo repair shop in Chinatown. Stands 3 feet tall, 14.5 deep, 28.5 wide. The legs screw off for easy transportation. Grundig (Germany) Radio- Record Player (Turntable) 14 1/2 W X 39 1/2″ L X 28″ H – RARE – Mid Century – Family owned from 1963 roughly. Note: Has natural minor wear such as scratches and dings. Beautiful Restored teak stereo console by Grundig. This particular unit is the model is the Stereo SO190. We obtained this from the original owner who had it imported to the USA when he was in the military. The unit is made up of teak and offers a reciever, record player, reel to reel and additional storage within the center drop down section. Our technician went through the whole piece to fix any issues. We carry all original documentation and servicing records. The Reel to reel did not get serviced but we can fix it at cost. This is a very good looking unit that works how it is supposed to and sounds great. Fits great around other teak, danish and mid century modern furniture. Condition report: Very good condition.
