This Kenwood is in good cosmetic shape. Keeps speed rock steady at 33 & 45. Issues are the auto return and auto start do not engage the tone arm. I think something maybe gummed up on the inside? The arm return motor or mechanism kicks in but arm doesn’t move. Motor turns off when arm is back in rest or playing on lp. It will however lift the tone arm at the end of record so you have pretty much a semi auto table if you choose to just use it as is. Any questions please feel free to message us. Based on Trio’s unique inertial lock and quartz lock, this player system is designed to further improve the stabilization relocation at a higher dimension. To ensure that the center of gravity of the cabinet is aligned with the axis of rotation of the motor, a highly rigid cabinet with two layers of crimped materials with different resonance frequencies, particleboard and 6 mm thick steel plate, is used. Since the shape of the steel material is determined by considering the balance of the entire cabinet, we succeeded in bringing the center of gravity of the cabinet onto the motor’s axis of rotation, thus obtaining stable rotation. In addition, in order to suppress the adverse effect on the cabinet caused by the reaction to the direction of rotation due to the mechanical torque change (ripple) called motor cogging, which is fatal to DC motors, we have improved the rotational accuracy by using insulators that do not move easily in the horizontal direction. The motor is a converter that converts electric current into torque, and since it is necessary to increase the conversion efficiency of the motor in order to handle a heavy turntable, a 3-phase switching plane drive motor with an 8-pole, 6-coil structure is used. All coils and rotors installed are used at all times, resulting in low torque ripple and high efficiency. This reduces amplifier gain in the feedback loop and virtually eliminates drift and other effects. In addition, a 10f center shaft made of hard stainless steel is used to drive the turntable with a large moment of inertia of 450 kg/cm2 in a stable manner. The 450 kg·cm2 large inertia turntable is locked by inertia and at the same time locked by quartz to prevent uneven rotation during actual playing when the record needle is traced by the tip of the needle. A quartz PLL system is used for phase difference control by comparing the reference signal of the quartz oscillator with the motor speed detection signal. The FG coil, which generates electricity from changes in the magnetic flux density of the magnetic rotor, is used to detect the rotation speed, and a newly developed IC with digital memory inside the IC is used in the speed control system. Unlike the conventional sample-and-hold method, this method does not use coils or resistors, resulting in improved temperature characteristics and stability. Since no mechanical contact points or magnets are used, the Auto Up mechanism is unaffected by internal transformers and performs accurate and quiet Auto Up operation.
