I think that because of our very low humidity there was no rust and minimal pitting. The crank handle is all nickel plate – no plastic handle. The strap is leather and not vinyl/plastic. The three arms that hold the record have a textured surface to help hold the record in place and not rubber dots. All of the pieces appear to be original and included. The screw down record holder button is still there. The record player plays. (I opened the case to clean and lubricate). Now it spins more freely. The nickel plating is almost perfect. The “tone arm” had some minor pitting which was easily removed this a little steel wool and polish. The outside of the “Reproducer” is very handsome and art-deco styled. The “Stylus Bar” is broken off, but it was inside the reproducer head. I open the head to remove the stylus bar and found that the foil sound wafer is damaged. While I was able to make “Music”, I’m sure that it would be much better if it is repaired. I added a new needle. The “horn” has several chips in the brown applied finish. Mainly by the holes that align with the stem that holds the horn in place while stored. (I think that it is brass under the finish). The case is also in very nice condition. The makers mark on the front is terrific. The hinges work and are not twisted or bent. The push button lock works. Beyond the front plate, I couldn’t find any markings. Width – 18″ Depth – 19.5″ Height – 38. Cabinet made in England. Gramophone made in Switzerland. This antique gramophone is in working condition and comes inside a lovely mahogany cabinet. The beautiful wood of the cabinet and the nostalgia of the record player combine to make this a very interesting piece. The turn table works properly with a break and speed control, but we do not have a record to test the sound with. Included with the piece are a slotted crank and a collection of needles for the gramophone. We estimate the cabinet was made in England (it was common to import gramophones and install them in cabinets) around 1960. The mahogany wood is beautiful. You will see the cabinet is fully finished on all four sides making it simple to place anywhere in a room. Two Queen Anne style feet can be found in the front and tapered legs are in the back. This cabinet is actually two sections. The top section lifts off the base just under the first set of doors. The lower section is an empty cabinet for storage. This English antique gramophone is in very good condition. There are minor wear marks here and there throughout. The feet have some minor dings and there are age separations between some of the corners of the feet as you can see in the photos. Both the lower right door and the right hand side have some slight scratches to the wood (they show up as dark lines in the pictures). All of these issues are cosmetic and minor.
