Portable record player, made in Switzerland by Paillard S. Red crackle enamel finish is much less common than the standard black/brown coverings, making this a desirable collector’s piece. An original red crackle enamel finish is a rarer color variant. The enamel shows typical age-related crackling and surface wear, but retains strong visual appeal. Hinges, clasps, and case structure remain intact. Complete with original winding crank and turntable. Spring motor winds and run great. One full crank will play the whole song with no problem. Up for sale we have a rare Thorens TD-124 MK1 (First Edition) turntable from a clean, smoke-free home in original condition. (please not this will require a tone arm to actual play records). The serial number is 2083 which makes it one of the first produced. It has been tested and does turn very smoothly with no resistance. The speed selector knob does turn hard so it may require some oil or cleaning to make it work smoother. I will note that the model sticker that was under the platter on the frame did fall off but has been saved and will be included. Also, I will point out that the rubber drive wheel that makes contact with the platter does have some cracking in it (see pictures). The original box and all packing is included. Here we have a. Vintage Serviced THORENS TD-124 Record Player Turntable Switzerland WORKING!! FULLY WORKING AND TESTED. As you can see it is in awesome condition, but please, you be the judge. This unit has been serviced and is fully working. The only issue I came across, whist servicing, is that , the Speed select pushes a switch underneath. The spring return on that switch is weak and I do not have the correct size to rectify it. So seeing the push bar to that switch and the plate it pushes are always together, I decided to tie them together. Works perfectly, but I thought it is something you should know. All soldering has been redone, to stop any dry joints. The Record player plays all speed as it should. I bench tested it for over 3hours with no problems or issues. I tried a 45rpm, 33rpm and the only 78rpm i own. I do not have a record that runs on the last speed, but it seems to be going at the correct rate. The base is the original base and the record player just rests on it. Photos shown in this listing are of the actual item for sale. NO STOCK PHOTOS USED unless otherwise stated. All our items, including changeable parts like bulbs, etc ARE SECURITY MARKED. Sorry about this , but there are those out there that think it is clever to change parts and return faulty ones. In photographs we occasionally use props to display items in the best light possible. These props, like my white board, lighting , kitchen table, Train track, boxes, my left or right hand are not including unless otherwise stated in the listing. Sorry for you having to read this but you would be surprised how many people think the items come with my table or a part of my anatomy that I have accidentally caught on camera. If it does not say base, stand , table , in either the main body of the description or title… Then they are NOT included in the sale. I do not Sell Just Passable Vacuum Tubes. Low and weak tubes are unceremoniously thrown in the nearest trash can, unless they are collectors Items. When using the word Matched it means in test results rather than in cosmetic looks. Whilst I endeavor to put tubes together from the same year and look the same, this is not always the case. I may have the same tube but from differing years matched up in test results, which means they may cosmetically or internally look a little different.. The numbers/letters in parentheses are Equivalents put in to help people to find the correct tube. If it does not say MATCHED then please do not consider them to be such. If you need to know the test results that I get then please just ask. I do not publish test results in the listing as what I get, and what someone else might get can be different. I use a TV7/U military spec Tester which is calibrated. I have 4 of these machines and all display a slightly differing value if I test the same tube, as two testers are never the same. So this shows what I get, and what you get may be slightly different. I also sometimes use a Hickok 752 for testing. If I state any values they are for a guide only. All tubes have passed the Gas and short tests. Rectifiers and Diode tubes do not have Transconductance values. Please have a look at the pictures for the cosmetic condition. I take lots of pictures so you can see cosmetics. Use the zoom function and have a good look. It is impossible to describe every scratch, scuff or mark. So take a good look. That is what they are there for. We check and describe the as much of the functionality as we can. If not Fully tested , then items are not tested to the full extent and may have something wrong that I have not discovered. If Fully tested then that is what they are. IF YOU’RE UNHAPPY WITH AN ITEM.. I make mistakes once in a while. I try to resolve any issue to both our best interests. GRADING OF CD’s and RECORDS. What do the GRADING MEAN? NEW – Unopened and brand new, sealed. Like NEW – Used but no obvious signs of use. (May be very light Scratching but not noticeable) (or the Case/Cover may be Scuffed a little). EXCELLENT- Very light ware to both the CD / Record or CASE/ Cover. Very GOOD PLUS – USED, Some Light Scratching to either the case or CD/Record. Light scratching to the case/ Cover. Very GOOD – USED Light Scratching to both the Case and CD/Record. Slightly Heavier than Above. Light and medium scratching. CD still plays Well. Cover is in Good condition but has normal wear and tear. Medium to heavy scratching. CD/Record still Plays ok. May jump or you will hear scratching on the record. Or if this is in grading is in regard to the case/Cover then there may be cracks in the case or the cover is Torn , or has rips along its edges or scuffed quite badly. Fair – The CD? Record plays, sometimes skips. Heavy scratching to the disc. In regards to the case or cover, then the case/ Cover is just holding itself together. CD/Record does not play. In regards to the case/ Cover then this grading means the case or sleeve is badly torn, scuffed, cracked and is falling apart. So some items that I may describe as Fair… May be good or above. It is just my opinion and I would rather paint a bleaker picture of something rather than saying it is better than it is. If in the main body of my listing I sell something AS IS. This means That I have tested something NOT TO ITS FULL EXTENT. Therefore I cannot be 100% sure of its working ability when you get it. If I say UNTESTED. Then I have not test it. Or have only gone so far to test it. I also pack well. This is a process, and it takes time. Please be patient enough for this process. Of the post office, or carrier.
