Vintage Pioneer Pl-518 Direct Drive Automatic Return Turntable Record Player. A used working semi-automatic vintage turntable with no dust cover. Please read entire description so you know exactly what you are getting. This turntable requires an amplifier/receiver with a dedicated phono input or an external preamp. Comes with a realistic RX 25XT phono cartridge and 3x shure used stylus. Stylus still sounds good. A great vintage photo cartridge. New stylus’ are available when needed. When I acquired this turntable it had no feet, no counterweight, no head shell, and no dust cover. So I put on new feet(they are solid, not springy), a counterweight I had laying around my shop(not the original but it works) and a new head shell. It has plenty of scratches and scuffs and the chrome has lots of abrasions and pitting on it. Please see the pictures. The tonearm holding post is fine, however the clip that holds the tone arm in place during transport, the tip is off so it doesn’t quite hold it in place. So you’ll need to keep the arm tied with a twisty tie when moving it. The post works fine during normal operation and playing. It works great and sounds great. The speed is dead on at 33 1/3 and 45 RPM. You put the needle on the record. The arm lifter works good, nice and smooth. The speed selector button and the speed control dial work good. It is a very heavy turntable, solid as can be. The platter and rubber mat look good. Regarding the counterweight, it does not screw on tightly like the original would have, but once you get it in place with the arm balanced it will stay there because it has grooves that will keep it in place. Please assume that all vintage electronic gear will need ongoing maintenance. This particular turntable is over 40 years old. It comes from a smoke-free home.
