Antiques, Fine Art & Collectibles. Vintage 1920s Decca Gramophone Trench Phonograph HMV Portable Record Player. DESCRIPTION Vintage 1920’s British Decca trench gramophone. Manufactured by the Decca company this type of gramophone employs “Bowl-in-lid” amplification by which sound is reflected forward from the lid. Often referred to as a “Trench gramophone ” because in World War One British Troops were supplied with this type of gramophone. The motor is Swiss made and the reproducer is a much later reproduction made by HMV which is not original to the piece. This particular gramophone retains its original factory dispatch note glued inside the motor compartment which uses a serial number to reflect the manufacturing date, it is a number in the format ddmmyy. This particular gramophone was manufactured on the 13th of November 1923, the first year of production. A great practical and beautifully aesthetic piece of gramophone history. A great addition to your vintage home decor or gramophone collection. MEASUREMENTS The cased gramophone measures 10.25″ long by 10.75″ wide by 8.5 deep and weighs 10lbs 7oz. CONDITION In solid working condition with scuffing, wear and tear commensurate with age, (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
