The Pioneer PL-50L, released in 1980 during the “Gold Era” of Japanese high-fidelity audio equipment, is a well-crafted direct drive turntable that sounds as good as it looks. The PL-50L version includes the innovative “moving coil system”, by which mechanical noise is reduced by contact-less detection of noise, such that the sensitivity of the tonearm is unaffected. By virtue of the PL-50L’s extremely solid construction and oversized platter, pitch accuracy is phenomenal. Add to this the absolutely stunning marble ebony cabinet finish, and you have a turntable that is both functional and beautiful. This turntable is in excellent condition, with minor aging, including a few cracks on the plinth (see pictures). It has been tested by our professional technician, confirming its flawless operation.
