Grundig Stereo Console SO 342 1960s MCM Record Player
Beautiful unit still cosmetically very clean. The model is SO342, build in West Germany in 1962. I have the electronic schematics and as I wanted to swap out some capacitors and resistors which need replacing to get the sound quality back but I couldn’t figure it out. The record player works well but as noted the sound is the speakers are muffled. One leg could use a little reinforcement. The grill cloth of the unit also has some pulls for a bad cat. This is a project for a more competent electrician than myself or perhaps pull the whole unit apart and use it for it’s beautiful structure. I think it qualified as mid century modern. Maybe it’ll be a woodworking project.
