Pioneer PL-12D stereo vintage turntable record player boxed superb 2
You are purchasing a Pioneer PL-12D stereo vintage turntable record player boxed superb 2. This is an original MK1 version of this fantastic turntable, which dates from early to mid 1970’s and comes in the original box and packaging as shown – tested and fully working. This is fitted with a Shure M75EJ Type 2 cartridge & EJ T2 stylus in good condition in the original Pioneer headshell. This comes with original instruction manual. This plays at both 45 & 33 RPM. This is in a used but good condition for its age (around 45) with some minor surface marks if you look for them, dust cover is also in good condition. Please note as usual with any vintage turntable you will need an amplifier with a Phono input stage built in – it can be used with an external phono stage either. This will not work independantly without the use of an appropriate amplifier and speakers. This is fitted currently with the original Pioneer 2 pin plug, so you can either use in a plug adaptor or simply cut off and fit a standard 3 pin plug if required. This works on standard 240v as well as 110v for overseas buyers when selector switch is changed. One unlikely success story that stands out from this period was the Pioneer PL-12D. This deck, certainly looking the part with its wood grain effect plinth, and sleek design, turned out to be a big hit, I think everyone looking for a reasonably priced deck with excellent specification at that time, had one, (myself included), they were everywhere! The PL-12D, is a belt drive system with an aluminium one piece platter, which comes with a choice of two speeds, 33 and 45 rpm; a manual action’S’ shaped tone arm, a SME style screw-on headshell and a detachable Perspex lid. Though the’Anti- vibration sprung floating chassis’ was one piece on which the platter spindle and the tone arm are fixed, it actually produces excellent results and was usually paired off with the Shure M75 range of cartridges. Another novel feature was an’over-hang checker’, a marker device that can be pulled up under the stylus, serving as a guide to the position the cartridge in the headshell. The motor is suspended under the chassis and is seated on an arrangement of rubber insulators that ensure that there is no metal-to-metal contact between them. The Pioneer PL-12D was indeed a good choice of deck, which produced excellent results, and proved to be a very reliable robust record deck. Cash on Collection is fine to save on P&P if you prefer. Large and bulky / heavy items. Items that are too large or heavy to send via standard courier and are listed as collection only can be in most cases put on a pallet if you wish to arrange a courier to collect or can be collected by a personal courier service (man with a van), or I may be able to deliver personally if the item can be fitted into my car – by prior arrangement. I use a courier service (usually UPS) to send my items, which is normally a next day service, but can be up to a 48 hour service (for mainland UK) or for lighter weight, lower value items I normally send via Hermes, which is a 2-5 day service.
