Antique DISC COLUMBIA AK PHONOGRAPH Record Player Original Working Restored
Here is an antique Columbia AK talking machine/phonograph in excellent working condition as pictured. This machine is an early disc phonograph by Columbia produced during the early days of the industry with a 9.75 turntable, marked patented on brass elbow and bears marking, A. 3503 on the cast iron motor plate. This machine winds up and runs quietly without bumping; motor has been professionally restored with new spring that plays 78rpm record all the way through on one winding. Oak cabinet with nice enhanced original finish with original decal; complete original crank, tone arm and bracket assembly. Original sound box with new gaskets plays with good volume. A few details bear mentioning: wool turntable felt and rubber feet are new replacements; original horn has been repainted; the speed/brake plunger is new, as is the machinist made motor board lock mechanism as well as one machinist made (very pricey) motor gear; one piece of rope twist molding has also been replaced and is difficult to distinguish from original; lastly there is, expectedly, some age related shrinkage of the corner moldings as pictured , and a couple of minor chips to corners. Overall, a very nice early original collectors machine guaranteed over 100 years old and ready to use and enjoy. A good example of a Columbia AK. Extra needles and one Columbia record included. No address changes for any reason. Please inspect photos carefully. All questions answered promptly. Please see my other auctions for more great antique items, phonographs, and related!
