Kenwood KP-990 Direct Drive Turntable Record Player
This is a Kenwood KP-990 Direct Drive turntable. Super high quality from the golden age of the record player. This table is 2nd in the line, behind the KP-9010, which I’ve been told has better feet and a heavier plinth. It also appears the maybe they have a slightly different tonearm. Other than that they have the same basic construction including the “CLFS” system which stands for “Closed Loop Frame Structure” which is supposed to isolate the motor, arm, enclosure, bottom plate, and dust cover. I know it sounds like a gimmick, but this turntable sounds fantastic. It has an oversized platter, and it weighs about 30 lbs. Please note that this DOES NOT include the cartridge, however the headshell is included. This is a product designed for the Japanese market, so it wants to see 100 volts, NOT 120! If you need more information, try to google any of the model numbers I have mentioned (KP-1100, KP-9010, or KP-990), and you will find all sorts of info, including some interesting modification that can be made. This thing is heavy and will be double boxed. I should also mention that the dust cover has some odd scratches on the top. I did my best to remove them, however they are pretty deep so they are still there. The cover is pretty clear other than that.
