Hinged top compartment reveals space for a component turntable. Wire slots for record storage. Holds approximately 75 albums. Genuine metal hardware in a brushed gold finish. Pre-cut hole in back for cord management. Just what I wanted. Was surprised it was all wood including the back. The flip-up lid on one side was exactly what I was looking for, along with room on both sides for storing LPs. The wood shelves and the veneer on the outside are very attractive. The mahogany has a very nice finish–on the dark side. There is another model with a lighter color. Visitors say nice things about the mid-century design. Unpacking, assembly and breaking down the cardboard took about 2 hours, moving right along. Be careful not to overdrive the screw-in connectors if you are using a power driver. Better to do all of the final tightening with an old fashioned screwdriver, as is the case for most of this assemble-yourself furniture. This thing is amazing for the price! We bought it for our bedroom after months of looking for a mid century style piece of this general type and size. I was very skeptical about what the quality would be like for this price, but figured we could at least use it there temporarily until we found something we liked better. Now I love it so much, I know its found a permanent home. Most of it is real wood (not MDF), and it looks perfectly at home next to a 1960s mid-mod end table we have in the same room.
