Kenwood KP-990 Direct Drive Turntable Original Box, Beautiful Record Player
This is a Kenwood KP-990 Direct Drive turntable. Super high quality from the golden age of the record player. This table is 2nd in the line, behind the KP-9010, which I’ve been told has better feet and a heavier plinth. It also appears the maybe they have a slightly different tonearm. Other than that they have the same basic construction including the “CLFS” system which stands for “Closed Loop Frame Structure” which is supposed to isolate the motor, arm, enclosure, bottom plate, and dust cover. I know it sounds like a gimmick, but this turntable sounds fantastic. It has an oversized platter, and it weighs about 30 lbs. The condition is fantastic, it does have some light scratches (it is about 40 years old), however it is obvious that it has been well taken care of. The cover is clear with no major scratches, just some light swirl marks. There is a chip on the right corner of the plinth that can be seen in the pictures. It also has the original box and transport screws. Please note that the cartridge shown in the pictures is NOT included, however the head shell is included. This is a product designed for the Japanese market, so it wants to see 100 volts, NOT 120! If you need more information, try to google any of the model numbers I have mentioned (KP-1100, KP-9010, or KP-990), and you will find all sorts of info, including some interesting modification that can be made.
