Rare Vintage Philips 22GF303 UFO Portable Record Player with built in Speaker. In excellent full working order, full service carried out on 20th Nov 2020 (please refer to photos & below for report). THIS IS A GREAT RECORD PLAYER AND TALKING POINT! A famous design by Patrice Dupont. A great example of this iconic design, from the fantastic space-age period of late 1960s to early 1970s design. When designers including Ettore Sottsass, Joe Colombo and Verner Panton were working in a similar aesthetic. Made in the Netherlands. White/cream molded plastic case with clear grey smoked plastic lid. Dark grey plastic interior. Plays 7 and 12 vinyl/records. 33, 45 and 78 speeds. Portable with retractable carry handle. Operates by mains power (3 pin plug) or batteries. Tested & Serviced, in Good working order. Measures: Diameter 30 cm. 12cm, Weight 2.4K. I’ve included a YouTube link below, of this actual record player in working order, to give you an idea of its sound and appearance. Hardly used, though it has light wear. With some fine surface scratches on the lid. That you’d expect to find with a 50 year old. Overall though it is in superb condition! The only main cosmetic defect is on a section of the lid. There is a slight crackle effect. On about a quarter of the grey smoky lid. Goodness knows how this came to be, as it’s been kept safely boxed away for many years, away from light & heat. (please see photos, I’ve tried to give the clearest impression of this) This is only superficial, the plastic is still perfectly smooth, it might be a film within the plastic maybe? As you can see this. Is not obvious at all in most lights, I didn’t even notice until I closely examined, it does not in any way compromise its great looks, tested functionality and great sound quality, but I wanted to bring this to your attention. The plug has been changed from a two pin European plug to a three pin UK plug. Serviced and restored mechanically and electronically by a sound system qualified electronics engineer. In perfect working order with (see link to YouTube video below). WORK CARRIED OUT, SERVICE REPORT 1 Inspection, cleaning of dust & debris, wiring checks, connector checks, contact-cleaning, detailed internal component measurements, functionality tests, voltage measurements, signal flow, identification of damaged/faulty components, tightening of fixing nuts and screws. 2 Detailed fault-finding and analysis carried out 3 Operation of motor tested and verified. 4 Operation of audio section tested and verified. 5 1 off new 3A fuse supplied & fitted to mains plug. 6 1off new transistor supplied & fitted. 7 Platter and idler wheel cleaned, and lubricated as required. 8 Functionality & operation of all controls checked & verified. 9 Performance & stability of unit tested and verified with records at all speed settings.
