Stereophonic Hi-Fidelity – 1957. Just when I thought I had seen the best in 50’s record player design. Along comes this brilliant Emerson Stereophonic HiFi! Emerson, as usual, spared no expense in the quality and workmanship that went into every detail of this beautiful console. You’d swear you were right back in 1957 when this is set up and playing a vintage album in your home.. Check out the video below for a small sample. Of what this Emerson sounds like! 1957 Emerson Hi-Fi Record Player Restored and Beautiful! The original mahogany finished cabinet is just so cool. With it’s tapered front and minimalist design. It’s the perfect compact size, not overpowering and heavy like many of the larger consoles. Measures 35 inches long, by 17 inches deep, and stands roughly 30 inches tall. The front doors slide open for record changing, and close for playing. In amazingly beautiful condition for being more than 60 years old. Having only some common light scuffs on the top. A small scratch on the front door, and a few paint specs here and there. Nothing big at all, just mentioned for accuracy. The 4 speed record changer has a unique STEREO/MONO switch. For playing your selected records. You can stack records on this changer, (or 45’s on the adapter), and each will play in turn, and the changer will shut off after the last record has played. This also comes with an automatic 45 adapter, that stores conveniently in it’s holder just above the record changer. The record changer was completely taken apart, and rebuilt to work as it should, including a new drive wheel, and cartridge/needle. The tube amplifier has all strong tubes, and all new capacitors. Along with a new power cord for long life and safety. See the many capacitors that were replaced in photos! The front graphics look terrific, are still all intact. And the controls allow you to adjust the following. Volume/Balance, Tone/Bass Treble, On/Off, Left/Right Speaker Selector. A fun pilot light enhances the control knob area at night, and lets you know if the unit is on or off. Dual Alnico speakers are on each side of the console, have new crossover capacitors for a tighter response, and sound just awesome! Player stands on 4 gold metal tapered legs. Which really make this console stand out. An extra final bonus is the original owners operating manual. And record changer manual that are both included! What a beautiful and well thought out design by Emerson. You’d be hard pressed to find a nicer example of a 50’s HiFi anywhere. Restoring America, one record player at a time!
