RCA VP-36 Stereo Record Player Nicely Restored Converted To Dedicated 45 RPM
A gorgeous restoration of this RCA VP-36 record player from about 1960. The VP-36 was a stereo record player originally equipped with a 4 speed record changer. This one has been converted to a 45 RPM player by fitting an RCA RP 190 record changer. It retains the original stereo tube amplifier and speaker system. Danish style legs converts this beauty to a floor standing player. Legs are easily removed so this unit can be used as a tabletop unit. An interesting feature of this record player is the speaker system. It consists of one 6 1/2 inch center woofer and two 4 inch dual cone stereo speakers that swing open on hinges that also function as the speaker connection. The speakers can easily be removed and then connected to an RCA output on back of the record player using speaker wire that is housed in each speaker. This record player is absolute eye candy that also sounds fantastic. Restoration process, Unit was completely disassembled. Old covering material removed. Case was repaired to be structurally sound. Expertly recovered with a high quality Tolex material. This is same material used on custom guitar amplifier cabinets. New brass plated hinges and latches replace the old rusted hardware. New grill cloth has been applied. Completely disassembled, cleaned, reassembled, lubricated, adjusted and tested. Old rubber parts replaced with new; idler wheel, cycling cam, motor mounts and chassis mounts. Chassis; Old paint removed, primed, painted and clear coated. Rebuilt with all new capacitors and resistors. New stereo cartridge with diamond stylus. Please examine photos carefully. They are a much better description than can be written. This is not difficult but does require the turntable assembly to be lifted to gain access to the amplifier. Detailed instructions are provided.
